Growing up my pal was always trim. He could eat and drink what he wanted when he wanted and he was always trim so never had to worry.
I then saw a show where they tested a skinny woman and a fat bloke (both middle aged) and it turned out the woman was in just as bad health as the big fat guy. Because she had never exercised or watched what she ate as she was skinny.
I told my mate and he wasn't bothered. Lo and behold years later he's diabetic and has to exercise and watch what he eats and drinks as he is a ticking time bomb.
The key is regular exercise and all things in moderation.

Type 1 has nothing to do with your lifestyle, I've had it for 15 years and have had perfect BMI throughout my life. Saying that Type 1's only make about 8 or 9% of all diabetics.
Refined sugar is everywhere and is dragging this nations health downward and is a massive drain on the NHS. But Government is focused on cutting costs rather than tackling the issue up front. The uneducated masses will continue to feed themselves and their kids convenient crap full of sugar and salt which leads to all sorts of health issues not only diabetes.

It's down to lifestyle there's no big secret to it. Too much crap food and not enough exercise. Food manufacturers are to blame too with some of the shitty ingredients they use. High fructose corn syrup and trans hydrogenated fats for starters.
